The Kiwanis Music Festival of London is pleased to announce the Stars of the Festival Gala Concert on May 29, 2024, at Metropolitan United Church at 7:30 pm. Admission is $15 with children 12 and under admitted for free. Following the concert there will be a reception in the Great Hall organized by the Kiwanis Club of Forest City-London. Five of the top soloists will perform including Almira Miao, flute, Lucas Zadorsky, voice, Renee Nikkel, pipe organ, Daniel Thiessen, Piano, and Una Roulston, Musical Theatre. The Firewood Trio consisting of Matthew Yang, cello, Kevin Song, clarinet, and Brian Zhang, piano won the Jennifer Orchard Ensemble Trophy and represent the ensembles. Schools showcased are Catholic Central Senior Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Carolyn Martinelli, Catholic Central Triple Trio conducted by Shana Swan, A. B. Lucas Secondary School Ensemble Andy & Friends conducted by Andrew Virtue, and The London Central Secondary School Senior Jazz Band conducted by R.J. Wieczor. In addition, there will be two Parades of Award Winners with 262 individuals and 30 schools receiving cash awards and trophies. The Kiwanis Music Festival returns between $35,000 and $40,000 to the community each year. Award money is provided by Lutheran Social Services, the Kiwanis Club of Forest City-London, the Kiwanis Club of Middlesex, the Jack & Barbara Hay Foundation, the London Community Foundation, CIBC Children’s Foundation Wood Gundy “Miracle Day”, the Kiwanis Music Festival Trust and many local businesses and individuals. |
